Abstract

Green banking, grounded in environmental sustainability, had flowed in relevance amid global concerns about climate change. India, a major economic player, acknowledges the authoritative of approval sustainable banking. This paper examined the key role of public sector banks in India as pioneers of the nation's sustainable financial evolution. It investigated their approaches, initiatives, challenges, and impacts, emphasizing their crucial influence to nurturing a greener and more robust financial sector. Public sector banks, by adopting eco-friendly practices and aligning investments with environmental goals, became instrumental in steering India towards a resilient and environmentally conscious financial future. As these banks directed challenges and pioneer initiatives, their influence became paramount in shaping a sustainable paradigm for the broader banking industry in India.
