The Rock Grinding Stone Theory (TRGST): A Philosophical Framework for Understanding Transformation Through Divine Purpose and Purposive Skill Implementation

Abstract

The Rock Grinding Stone Theory (TRGST) is a philosophical and conceptual framework developed to explain purposeful transformation through the integrated interaction of divine purpose, quality inputs, a stable transformation environment, purposive skill implementation, and excellent results. Inspired by the traditional rock grinding stone, the theory extends an ancient technology into an interdisciplinary model for understanding how transformation occurs across individuals, organizations, and societies. The study adopted a philosophical and conceptual theory-development approach involving critical analysis, synthesis, and integration of literature from education, leadership, organizational development, management, theology, systems thinking, and transformative learning. Existing theories provide valuable explanations of organizational change, learning, leadership, and human development but largely examine these dimensions independently. TRGST addresses this conceptual gap by integrating spiritual, environmental, human, and practical determinants within a unified theoretical framework. The theory contends that transformation is simultaneously divine and dependent upon purposive skill implementation for the realization of excellent results. It advances five core constructs, seven fundamental assumptions, six guiding principles, and five theoretical propositions that collectively explain the transformation process. The theory contributes to scholarship by providing an original interdisciplinary framework applicable to education, leadership, organizational development, entrepreneurship, governance, community development, and personal growth. It also offers a foundation for future empirical validation and practical application in diverse professional and institutional contexts.
